Steve Lovett - Band Chairman
Steve is a semi retired project manager who spent 27 years working with BT. He is a member of the British Computer Society and of the Association of Project Managers. He runs a modest smallholding on the outskirts of Framlingham.
Having started playing tuba at the age of nine he went on to play with Leiston Royal British Legion band for over 10 years. He and his wife, Julie, have been playing with Ipswich Hospital band now for approximately 5 years. For much of this time their three children were also members of the main band. For a short time he was also the conductor of the band’s foundation group. Tuba players are becoming increasingly rare and he can sometimes be seen playing as a guest with other local bands and orchestras
Steve is a Community First Responder for the East Anglian Ambulance Trust. Trained and equipped for the use of defibrillators and oxygen therapy, he responds to 999 calls and cares for local patients until an ambulance crew arrives. He is also involved with training with St John Ambulance.
In the Scout Movement he has been a Cub Scout leader for 15 years and is now a County Cub Scout leader, managing events for Cub Scouts at county level. He is also a Nights Away Advisor, a Training Adviser and a Training Facilitator within the Suffolk Scout Movement. In 2008 he was presented with the Award for Merit.
He is a Grand National Archery Society qualified leader. Steve leads archery activities within Scouting and for other groups. He is an active member of Greener Fram, a group set up to help steer the town towards a more sustainable future, and is also Chair of Governors at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham.
